One off copy of ‘Spitfire Dive’ signed by 5 Battle of Britain pilots.
This is a ONE OFF copy of our ‘Spitfire Dive’ canvas print that we were fortunate to get signed by:
Group Captain BILLY DRAKE DSO DFC* DFC(US) - with 1 Sqn he flew Furies in 1936, Hurricanes throughout the Battle of Britain with 213 Sqn from Tangmere and then Spitfires with 421 Sqn. He went on to take command of 112 Sqn in the Western Desert flying the P40 and also the Spitfire Wing in Malta in 1943, finishing the war with 24 & 2 shared victories.
Wg Cdr Tom Neil DFC* AFC – One of the highest scoring RAF pilots during the Battle of Britain. He later flew off the Ark Royal in Malta and afterwards flew Mustangs with the USAAF as a Flying Liason Officer, before a spell as a test pilot.
Wg Cdr Tim Elkington – He flew Hurricanes with 1 Sqn during the Battle of Britain, but was shot down and injured in August 1940. He later flew Hurricanes, Spitfires, and Typhoons and remained in the RAF until 1975.
Wg Cdr Terence Kane – Flew Spitfires with 234 Sqn during the Battle of Britain and had 2 victories before being shot down over the Channel at the height of the Battle and spent the rest of the war as a POW.
Wg Cdr Peter Ayerst DFC – In 1939 he flew Hurricanes in France with 73 Sqn where he scored his first victory and added a He111 during the Battle of Britain. He not only flew in the Battle of Britain but was also one of the few that flew operationally throughout the entire war finishing with 9 confirmed victories. He later became a test pilot.
This was very much a one off event and where this was the only copy of this particular print that we had signed so you are buying a truly unique item.
